The Texas After Violence Project is a member of the Texas Oral History Association (TOHA), the Oral History Association (OHA) and the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience.

The Texas After Violence Project is an independent organization, incorporated as a non-profit Texas corporation in April 2007, and as of August 10, 2009, recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations to the project are tax-deductible.

It is also a member of Greenlights for NonProfit Success; the family of non-profit organizations at the Austin Community Foundation; and "I Live Here I Give Here," Central Texas' Campaign for Philanthropy.
