4 April 2008, photograph by Virginia Raymond

Papa Diallo interned with the Texas After Violence Project in the Fall of 2007 in connection with his academic work at Huston-Tillotson University, where he held the highest GPA in the Criminal Justice program. After completing his internship, he continued to volunteer with the project. Mr. Diallo was a 2007 UNCF scholar; the recipient of the Richie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship and a United Church of Christ-Avery Arthington scholarship; and a Research Associate with the University of Texas Humanities Institute. He has worked as a Resettlement Specialist with Caritas of Austin, and as a contract employee with SafePlace. In 2008, Mr. Diallo graduated with highest honors from Huston-Tillotson and began graduate studies at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at UT Austin. He plans to continue his advocacy for refugee populations. Mr. Diallo, who was born in the West African nation of Senegal, is married and the father of two children.

Mr. Diallo has remained active with the project as an interviewer, videographer, public speaker, and friend. He is currently a graduate student at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at UT Austin.

The photograph shows Mr. Diallo as he finishes lunch at Chili's with colleagues and a person he is about to interview in a quieter place!
