Why does it take so long to post video segments of interviews?1) It takes a long time because we have an excruciatingly careful consent process. The Texas After Violence Project will not publish any interview or portion of any interview unless and until we have given the person we interviewed a transcript of the interview and a chance to review and edit the transcript; we have made any requested deletions or corrections in the interview; the person has designated a certain date at which materials may be released to the public, and that date has arrived; and the person has donated the interview materials to the Texas After Violence Project for educational and non-commercial purposes. Moreover, in the case of interviews that are recorded visually, the Texas After Violence Project does not publish any video interview or portion of an interview unless and until the person giving the interview has received and had a chance to review a DVD of the interview and request edits; we have made any requested edits; the person has donated the audiovisual recording to the project; the person has specified a date on which the materials may be made public; that day has arrived; AND the person has specifically consented to web publication. You'll find more information about our oral history interview process here. Should you grant us an interview, please understand that your interview will not suddenly appear online. We will not post any interview material -- written, audio, or audiovisual -- online without the specific consent of the person interviewed. 2) The Texas After Violence Project consists of a small group of people who take great care with our work, which is much bigger than us. There are many ways that you can support our work with your time, labor, and knowledge. Also, your donations will help the Texas After Violence Project Thanks for your understanding |
