![]() Photograph by Elliot Trester, February 29, 2008 Ellen Sweets is a freelance features, food, and travel writer and columnist with extensive editing and reporting experience for daily newspapers, corporate publications and the Internet. She is adept at spotting trends and stimulating reader interest in wide-ranging topics. Sweets' writing has appeared in Black Enterprise and newspapers across the U.S., including The Dallas Morning News, The Sacramento Bee, the Toronto Mail, The Louisville Courier Journal, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, The New York Observer and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Her formal education took place at Antioch College (now Antioch University), Gallaudet College (now University), and Washington University. In 2006, both the St. Louis Association of Black Journalists and the Colorado Association of Black Journalists honored her for lifetime achievement; in the same year, Sweets was a member of the Denver Post Food Section that won the James Beard Award for best food section. Ellen Sweets moved to Austin in 2008. |
