mission

The Texas After Violence Project is an independent narrative and human rights project with a three-fold mission. We

1) listen empathetically, carefully, and without judgment to people directly touched by serious violence, the criminal justice system, incarceration, and executions in Texas;

2) share our findings widely, to the extent and in the manner consistent with individual interview narrators' express permission; and

3) promote collective, critical, and constructive conversations about effective ways to prevent and respond to violence.

We work toward a more just and less violent Texas: a society that recognizes and affirms the dignity and value of every human being.
