Mary O'GradyAsked for a biography, our newest stalwart volunteer Mary O'Grady describes herself as "a writer and researcher based in Austin. She holds a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's in zoology from the University of Texas." And that's all this modest, extremely dedicated woman will say. But we can say a little bit more without embarrassing her too much. Mary transcribes like a demon (in the good way!). lived in Austin "on and off" since 1975. She includes herself in the tribe that "got here as soon as [she] could" and is "deliriously happy to be here." A Wisconsin native, Mary moved to Corpus Christi -- her father's hometown -- as a child in 1959. As a long-time Texan with an incredible memory, Mary can call up names and facts and make connections that many of the rest of us cannot. Although as of this writing in April 2011, Mary has only been here a short while, she's become an indispensable member of the team. |
