Iliana Marie López interview
Submitted by TAVP2007 on Fri, 06/19/2009 - 13:03.
As a teenager, Iliana Marie López spent a February afternoon with friends at a San Antonio shopping mall. There the friends met another young man and invited him to join them. Iliana and most of her friends went home that evening, but one member of their group, Brandon Shank, instead left with their new acquaintance. Several days later police found Brandon's body. The acquaintance was ultimately convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. In this portion of her interview, Ms. López describes the young people's afternoon in the mall, her conversation with the young man later convicted of murder, and subsequent events as she experienced them. At the time of this interview, Ms. López was attending the University of Texas at Austin.
