Fall 2010 trainingsDuring Fall 2010, the Texas After Violence Project trainings for students and volunteers of any age took place in Austin on Thursdays, from September 23 through November 11, and Fridays, September 24 through November 12. Trainings address ethical responsibilities, narratives and oral history, trauma, grief, self-care, an introduction to Texas criminal law and practice, the death penalty in the context of race/racism, region, religion, prisons, and Texas history, an introduction to capital cases & appeals, Thursday evening trainings took place from 6 - 8:00 p.m. at the University of Texas at Austin campus, in Room 1.124, Benedict Hal, thanks to Nancy Ewert at the Center for Women and Gender Studies (CWGS), as well as Professor Sue Heinzelman, Director of CWGS and well as Matthew McKibben and Ixchel Rosal at the Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC). Friday afternoon trainings took place from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. at the Texas After Violence Project. |
