Do we have ethical responsibilities to the organization, Texas After Violence Project, itself?- Yes - Many, perhaps most, of these responsibilities are derivative. Our responsibilities to the organization are to act ethically towards interview narrators, other persons potentially affected by the stories, each other, users and potential users, and so forth. - Responsibilities to the organization are subordinate to the core responsibilities to individual people. that does not mean that we are obliged to fulfill every wish or desire of every individual. We *cannot* fulfill every desire of every narrator, user, or member of the team and should make our limitations clear from the outset. - On the other hand, sometimes organizations need to radically change, fold, merge or become part of other organizations, or become extinct. So our responsibility cannot be to keep the organization intact no matter what. |
