Christen SmithChristen Smith is an assistant professor in the Department of Anthropology, John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies (CAAAS), and the Teresa Lozano Long Institute for Latin American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her Ph.D. at Stanford University. Dr. Smith's scholarship concerns state violence in Brazil, theater, performance, race and racial formation, Black and indigenous struggles in Latin America, social protest, and grassroots organizing. She was elected to the board in September 2008 and began her four-year term on October 1, 2008. |
