The IRS has recognized the Texas After Violence Project as a public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Texas After Violence Project is a member of the Texas Oral History Association (TOHA), the Oral History Association (OHA) and the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience.

It is also a member of Greenlights for NonProfit Success; the family of non-profit organizations at the Austin Community Foundation; and "I Live Here I Give Here," Central Texas' Campaign for Philanthropy.
